In my classroom, I prioritize cultivating students’ independence as artists. This involves guiding them toward making thoughtful artistic decisions on their own and developing the confidence to problem-solve. My role as an educator is to equip them with strong technical skills, deepen their visual literacy, and encourage them to harness their own creativity. 

The Studio Habits of Mind serve as a framework that empowers students to lead their own artistic journeys. These habits encompass the full creative process from conception to completion, and regular practice with them encourages students to take ownership of their work.

Moreover, the Studio Habits extend beyond the art room. Through reflection, experimentation, and practice, students develop essential skills, such as risk-taking, perseverance, and problem-solving. This supports their growth in their academic career and in the real-world.
