Hi Ken, I am George Montgomery Allen's G Granddaughter and I came across the thread about the Allens, but couldn't get in to add to the story!
I have been doing family history research for some time, and can probably add to the story. My parents, (Frank and Olive Allen) visited the
Irish families in the 70's, and I have family trees which were written out for them, Isaac Allen's wife Isabella's obituary states that Isaac
was working at a munitions factory in the USA. Anyway, if you want to make contact with me, and we can fill in some of the blanks.
I was most interested in the info on the website. Fay Long

I wonder if you got my reply as the email bounced back the first time. Id like to see if we are related in some way from the original Allen
brothers who came from County Armagh - Kenny Allen

Yes, I got your message, and we are probably related. I originally wanted to take part in your Internet blog (?0 and reply to the participants,
but access was denied., which is why I sought you out via other means. I am the granddaughter of Samuel Allen, son of George Montgomery.
Some of the entries interested me. My parents went to Ireland in the 70's and visited the descendants of John and Margaret Curry's daughter
who stayed behind when they, the Currys, emigrated to Australia. Favour Royal was gifted to the Moutrays by James the first, and some years
ago was burnt down I have the history of the Moutray's book, written in the 1920s.
I have the obiturary of Edward John Bowes, Margaret Curry's father. He was born in 1771 and died in 1827. I also have of course,
the obit's of John Curry, George Allen and Isabella Allen.
We believe that Samuel Allen and Catherine Montgomery (George's parents') altered their ages on the ship's records of their arrival,
as the ages do not compare with their ages on their deaths and buriels in Bega cemetary. As they were assisted immigrants, sponsored by
George, they probably would have had to be under a certain age to qualify.
I saw on your website a query as to another Samuel ASllen arriving in Australia. According to the family trees I have (written out for my
parents in Ireland, one of John Curry's sisters (name unknown) marred a Samuel Allen and emigrated to Australia, so it may have been that
one that is referred to- Fay Long

I'm wondering I should open up a page on my website called Curry's and Allen's keeping it separate from McNauls and Allen's? - Kenny

Hi Ken,
I think that would be a wonderful idea, and please tell me how I can contribute to it, as I said, I wasn't able to contribute to your
McNauls and Allens site. The Currys and the Allens were closely linked, being related in Ireland, and marrying each other's chiildren in
Australia! Isabella and Rebecca (my G Grandmother) older sister, Lydia, married a McClintock and were the pioneers of Cootamundra.
Margaret (Bowes) Curry, had a sister who married an Elliot, whose descendants also went to Cootamundra, and Walter Curry (their brother,
died in Cootamundra, where I think some of his family went to! I was in Cootamundra on Wednesday, and mentioned the family links to a lady in a shop, and she knew of them all.
I also had my DNA tested by Ancestry, which has turned up dozens of cousins! When my parents were in Ireland, they were told by the Irish
cousins that the Bowes were related to the Queen Mother's Bowes-Lyon family, though I'm not sure of that. I belong to a Facebook Bowes
One Name society, which endeavors to link up all the Bowes (Bows, Bow) descendants.. The creator of the site, Martha Bowes, has developed a
special Northern Ireland site to cater for our lot. Interesting! - Fay Long

Hi Kenny,
Just a quick note-will write more later. Thank you so much-you have provided valuable information that I was unaware of. As I have said, I am more interested in the lives of the ancestors, where they lived, how they lived etc, and your information is priceless. I am researching all eight of my families, who were either Bounty Immigrants (totally sponsored by the NSW Government), or Assisted Immigrants (part-paid for their own passage) to Australia before 1857.
I am writing this in larger type, as I am 82, and make mistakes in the smaller type!
I was told by my father, that he was told that the earliest known Allens were two brothers who lived in Southern Ireland, and when their church was burnt down in 1648, they fled to the north. I researched this some time ago, and sure enough, the unrest at the time caused families to flee. The original stuff that I found gave a list of the families who fled, and included on the list were the Allens and the Montgomerys (My G grandfather, George's mother was a Montgomery) I have not been able to find it since, as it seems to have been taken off the web. Perhaps you could do some digging?
