I started teaching because I love kids. I continue teaching because I want every kid to be loved and encouraged to learn.
I believe in a student-driven classroom that is engaging, hands-on, and often loud with students' thinking and ideas. Creative lesson plans through new and researched practices are encouraged in my classroom - when kids are active and talking to other students, they are more engaged. Although, I mostly enjoy hands-on learning approach, I also recognize different learning styles and apitudes.
Although, I believe testing scores are important, I prefer to do most of my data analysis in the moment, when working 1:1 with students, and through engaging activities. In my classroom, you would see me interacting with students to collect non-formal data in forms of exit notes, presentations, questionnaires, student meetings, etc.
Additionally, I encourage student growth by teaching student independence, responsibility, accountability, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
