Hello! My name is Kelsey Sweet I am a senior at Londonderry High School. I hold the current position of News Chief on our school's New Publication, The Lancer Spirit, for the 2025- 2026 academic year.
In February of 2026, I was named New Hampshire Journalist of the Year.
It is a pleasure that you are taking the time to review my portfolio as part of the JEA National Journalist of the Year Applicants.
I enjoy writing News, Features, and Opinion pieces on events and topics that have a significant impact on our school community and me. This past year, I stepped out of my comfort zone and started my own Multimedia Byline, called Behind the Scenes. Strictly focused on highlighting clubs and organizations within my school and community that don't often get the highlight they deserve. In addition to multimedia, I also take photos at sports games and class events.
I am planning to continue my academic career in Journalism in the fall.
Some of my favorite parts of developing my craft are meeting new people who share their interests and points of view. I am a seeker of truth and aiding those who need their stories told. In a Division 1 High School with 1,308 students, there are 1,308 opportunities to write a story.
When I'm not on the hunt for a scoop, you'll most likely find me singing the national anthem at an event or performing on stage.
