Competency for Rehab on an Advanced Cardiac ECMO Unit_Trevino.pdfThis course was presented at the 2021 FOTA annual conference and provided education to those within the occupational therapy field who are interested in initiating rehab with their own ECMO/advanced cardiac patients. Sharing both the technical and medical, as well as the psychological and emotional patient needs that are met through this training gives a better understanding of a unique population, that is ideal for occupational therapy practice. Not only did presenting this course open the discussion to practitioners who were unaware of the occupational therapy presence within this population, but it also brought about opportunities to reach future occupational therapists, in becoming a guest lecturer to an MOT program at a local university.
