In this section of the page, we will talk about the shows from the former Marvel Television that were cancelled for different reasons.
This series was going to be a Spin-Off of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., which was going to star Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood playing agents Barbara "Bobbi" Morse and Lance Hunter, respectively, reprising their roles from Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Seasons 2 and 3.
The premise was going to be the following: "Ex-spies and ex-spouses Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter are on the run, trying to uncover a conspiracy against them. With no help from S.H.I.E.L.D., the peacekeeping and spy agency that previously employed them, they enter into an uneasy partnership with rogue adventurer Dominic Fortune and his niece Christina Santos".
A pilot was filmed for ABC, and the cast was set to include Delroy Lindo as Dominic Fortune, Fernanda Andrade as Christina Santos, and McKenna Grace as Zoe Abel. Oded Fehr, Laura Allen, and Damon Dayoub were also slated to appear in undisclosed roles.
The pilot was filmed but ultimately shelved, and Jeph Loeb stated in 2018 that he could no longer air the pilot, as that decision rested with ABC, which never materialized.
This series was going to be about the organization "Damage Control" and how they dealt with the aftermath of superhero-villain battles, as well as handling unfinished business from those events.
The premise was going to be the following: "Marvel's Damage Control centers on the overworked and underpaid cleanup crew of the Marvel Universe. Their specialty is dealing with the aftermath of unique superhero conflicts, like returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, rescheduling a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a battle, or even tracking down a missing prize African parrot that's been turned to stone or goo. Sometimes the most important heroes are the ones behind the scenes".
A pilot was filmed for ABC; the series was to be a half-hour comedy in the style of "The Office". Ben Karlin was slated to serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, with David Miner also as an executive producer. In 2016, ABC president Paul Lee announced that the series would premiere that year. After that, nothing more was heard of the project, leading to the assumption that the pilot was shelved and the series canceled.
This series was going to be about the Marvel Comics superhero group "New Warriors", which would have starred Milana Vayntrub as Doreen Green / Squirrel Girl, Derek Theler as Craig Hollis / Mister Immortal, Jeremy Tardy as Dwayne Taylor / Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy as Robbie Baldwin / Speedball, Matthew Moy as Zack Smith / Microbe, Kate Comer as Deborah Fields / Debrii, Keith David as Ernest Vigman and John Gemberling as Mark Diering / Brother Nature.
The premise was going to be the following: "The New Warriors are six young people with powers living and working together. With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of the Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world... even if the world isn't ready".
A pilot was filmed in 2017 for Freeform, as Cloak & Dagger was very well received on that same channel. On November 1, 2017, it was announced that Freeform was unable to find a time slot for New Warriors in their 2018 lineup, resulting in Marvel pulling the series from the network. The series was being shopped elsewhere. On June 7, 2018, Jeph Loeb said Marvel Television was still looking for a network to air New Warriors.
On September 16, 2019, it was announced that the series did not find a new home after being passed on by multiple networks, including Hulu and Disney+, and was officially cancelled. Showrunner Kevin Biegel later stated that the show would have had a lot of LGBTQ+ representation, and that a Marvel executive (who was unnamed, but labeled as "homophobic" by Biegel) aimed the show for being "very, very proudly gay". A Marvel representative denied this, saying that they were "fully supportive of the show".
This series was going to be a Spin-Off of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., starring Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider, reprising their role from Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4. And it probably would have featured Robert Wisdom as Caretaker, a character who appeared in Helstrom, since he is an important character in the Ghost Rider story, and in addition, the Helstrom series mentions a fact that corroborates his supposed appearance in the series if it had gone ahead.
The premise was going to be the following: "Marvel's Ghost Rider centers on Robbie Reyes, the quintessential antihero, who lives on the Texas / Mexico border, consumed by hellfire and supernaturally bound to a demon. When he unleashes the Rider, Robbie brings vengeance for the innocents he encounters, but struggles to control the power he wields".
It was also announced that Ingrid Escajeda would serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Paul Zbyszewski and Jeph Loeb would be executive producers. The series would premiere in 2020.
On September 25, 2019, it was announced that the series would not be going forward at Hulu due to creative differences. However, it may be because at the time, the Marvel Television division had been taken over by Marvel Studios, which canceled the future projects that were underway.
This series was intended to be the third installment under the Marvel Television banner known as "Adventure Into Fear", part of a saga of series leading to a crossover, similar to the one seen previously with Netflix's "The Defenders".
The series would have focused on Nadeen Hassan / Glyph, an American-Egyptian teenager who can conjure ancient Egyptian spirits and control them. Channeling the energy of the spirits, she can easily breach barriers. She also possesses super strength, able to punch concrete with little to no physical damage, suggesting amplified durability. The villain most likely would have been Navid Hassan, Nadeen's twin brother.
It is known that the series would be about this character because in 2019 or 2020, Marvel registered the trademark "Glyph" as a television series.
Unfortunately, the series could no longer be made because the Marvel Television division was taken over by Marvel Studios and ended up canceling future projects that were underway.
This series was intended to be the fourth installment under the Marvel Television banner known as "Adventure Into Fear", part of a saga of series leading to a crossover, similar to the one seen previously with Netflix's "The Defenders".
The series would have focused on N'Kantu: The Living Mummy, a leader of the Swarilli tribe 3,000 years ago, who was enslaved by the Egyptians under Pharaoh Aram-Set. N'Kantu led a rebellion and succeeded in killing the pharaoh, but was captured by the high priest Nephrus. As punishment, Nephrus injected him with an alchemical fluid that paralyzed him and kept him alive while he was mummified and entombed in a sarcophagus to suffer for all eternity. In the modern era, the effects of the paralysis wore off, and N'Kantu awoke in Cairo.
Although there isn't much information about this show, it is known that Marvel Television did have plans to introduce him in Glyph if this series had been made, introducing him in a similar way to how Luke Cage was introduced in the first season of Jessica Jones.
Unfortunately, the series could no longer be made because the Marvel Television division was taken over by Marvel Studios and ended up canceling future projects that were underway.
This series was intended to be the crossover event for the "Adventure Into Fear" saga, where the storylines of Helstrom, Ghost Rider, Glyph, and N'Kantu: The Living Mummy would intersect. The plot would have revolved around the Helstrom siblings, Robbie Reyes, Nadeen Hassan, and N'Kantu, facing Lilith, the Mother of All Demons.
It is known that this will be the name of the crossover, since Marvel registered the trademark "Spirits Of Vengeance" at the same time as "Glyph". It is also known that Lilith will be the villain of this crossover, thanks to a statement Gabriel Luna made in an interview.
Unfortunately, the series could no longer be made because the Marvel Television division was taken over by Marvel Studios and ended up canceling future projects that were underway.
