Our elementary libraries strive to be student centered, flexible learning spaces where our community of diverse learners can gather information, utilize resources, and create deeper understandings. The elementary libraries are a place for "taking" and "making," meaning our learners are encouraged to not only be consumers of information, but creators, as well. We seek to be a technology hub that teaches multiple types of literacy. At the elementary level, students develop 21st-century skills such as collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem solving in library class.
The KCASD elementary libraries are full-service learning, research, and project spaces. Our libraries are spaces in the learning community where one can access electronic, print, manipulative, and human resources. Our libraries are places that instill a lifelong love of learning.
