Grades K-2 were thrilled to meet author/illustrator Luke Flowers! In partnership with Scholastic, Luke was able to visit our school in 2018.
Leading up to Luke's arrival, students got ready to welcome him by reading his Moby Shinobi books in library class. We also prepared questions to ask Luke about what it was like to be an author and illustrator. The students also used oil pastels to draw Mobi Shinobi in art class, with Miss Grubbs, we well.
During his visit, Luke brought his Moby Shinobi puppet (that he made himself), and spoke to our students about having a career as an author/illustrator. Having been an illustrator for a long time, Luke also planned a fabulous drawing activity that all of the kids participated in!
Students chose one Mobi Shinobi book that the library purchased for them. At the end of the presentation, every student got to meet Luke, and he then wrote a personalized message for each child in their new book. Luke was so thoughtful and really took his time with all 176 students!
We all LOVED the presentation!
