The following are ways I may utilize when it comes to assessing and evaluating my students:
I may conduct pre-tests and post-tests. This will allow me to measure the impact of the lesson.
I may utilize tests, quizzes, or other graded course activities. This will require the students to know the material and be able to utilize it to respond to questions and statements.
I may host discussions within my classroom. This will allow students to discuss what they have learned and will give me the opportunity to hear what they have learned.
I may ask the students to perform tasks or experiments, within the classroom, that utilize what we have learned. That way they have to do a hands-on activity with their new-found knowledge.
These are just a few of the many possibilities. I also plan on changing my form of assessment and evaluation when needed. That way my students do not get burnt out doing one type of assessment.
Here is an example of a grading rubric that I created using Microsoft Word.
