Reading isn’t just available in our library at school. There are many other places you can find reading materials. Please follow these links to explore eBooks, audiobooks, and videos of people reading to you.

Destiny Discover

Sign into our Destiny Discover Library database for Katzie using your Surrey Schools username and password. Once in Destiny Discover scroll down to ‘eBooks’ / 'Audiobooks' and ‘See All.’ You can read and listen to many of the books we have in our library online as well.

Surrey Libraries

How to sign out ebooks and audiobooks from Surrey Libraries.

Sora

Sora by OverDrive, a user friendly and accessible online literacy resource for elementary and secondary students. Students and staff can log in using their Surrey Schools credentials and instantly access hundreds of eBooks and audiobooks on virtually any device. Get started by visiting: https://soraapp.com/library/sd36ca or download the free Sora app for Android or iOS. For easy access, all students and teachers can login with their Surrey Schools username and password.

Students and staff can also add the Sora collection from Surrey Libraries to their account. This expands the number of eBooks and audiobooks they have access to which is always great news! To add Surrey Libraries to your account, follow these directions: LINK

Epic!

In order to access Epic, your teacher must send you an invite. Epic has a huge range of eBooks available covering a large variety of topics and subjects! Epic books are available for a variety of age levels. There is also an app you can download.

Tumblebooks

Tumblebooks is a database of e-books for Grades K - 6 in English, Spanish, and French.  It includes graphic novels, fiction, nonfiction, and enhanced eBooks (read alouds). Find out the Surrey Schools Tumblebooks username and password here.

BookFlix

Surrey Schools has licensed access to Scholastic BookFlix. This new service provides a literacy resource that pairs classic fictional video storybooks from Weston Woods with related non-fiction eBooks from Scholastic. 

Titles are organized in 9 thematic categories: Animals and Nature, Earth and Sky, People and Places, ABC's and 1, 2, 3's, Family and Community, Music and Rhyme, Adventure, Celebrations,  and Imagination.

Read Alouds

There are lots of places online where you can watch and listen to someone else read books to you. These are all reliable sources and videos designed specifically for kids just like you. Many of these books are read by the author,  famous actors, actresses, astronauts, or sports stars as well!

Storyline Online

Storyline Online streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White and dozens more. 

Padlet "We Are One World"

A curated collection of read alouds from a variety of authors, comedians, actors, actresses, and more. The collections are sorted and organized by theme.

Storytime with Ryan & Craig

Ryan and Craig read aloud a variety of of books with humour and wit. Read alouds are really funny and sorted by the author of the book being read. 

Storytime From Space

Listen to astronauts in space on the International Space Station read your favourite stories aloud.
