Book Of The Year Programs

Battle Of The Books

Make a team and join the fun! Our annual Battle Of The Books will take place on May 13th. Teams of 3 to 5 students compete in a trivia style competition answering questions about the SSBOY nominees. Read more and register your team below.

The Surrey Schools Books of the Year program is for students in grades 4 to 7. There are 10 nominated books and each June students who have read at least 2 nominees vote for their favourite book. We have 4 copies of each nominee available in the library. You can also access some of the books as eBooks through Destiny Discover with your Surrey Schools username and password.

Punch your SSBOY tracking card  in the library each time you finish a nominee to enter in a monthly draw to win a free book.

SSBOY FLIP BOOK CLUB

Use the SSBOY Flip link below to leave a video response about any of the SSBOY books you've read. You can listen and respond to other students' comments too! Remember to be respectful in your posts and comments. You will need your Surrey Schools email, username, and password to join.

Surrey Schools Picture Book Of The Year (SSPBOY)

Primary classes have read all 10 of this year's amazing Surrey Schools Picture Book of the Year nominees during library classes and voted for their favourite. Here are the results. The winner of the SSPBOY Award will be revealed in June.

Surrey Schools Narrative Nonfiction Book Of The Year (SSNNFBOY)

This is the seventh year of the  SSNNFBOY program. Narrative nonfiction books mix elements of fiction and nonfiction. These books read like a story but contain true facts and may be about real people or events. The nominees will be shared with primary students during library classes and they will vote for their favourite title. The SSNNFBOY award winner will be announced in June.
