The Surrey Schools Books of the Year program is for students in grades 4 to 7. There are 10 nominated books and each June students who have read at least 2 nominees vote for their favourite book. We have 4 copies of each nominee available in the library.
Punch your SSBOY tracking bookmark in the library each time you finish a nominee to enter in a monthly draw to win a free book.
Make a team and join the fun! Our annual Book Of the Year Battle will take place in May. Teams of 3 to 6 students compete in a trivia style competition answering questions about the SSBOY nominees. The winning Katzie team will advance to the virtual District competition. Read more and register your team below.
Primary classes will read all 10 of this year's amazing Surrey Schools Picture Book of the Year nominees during library classes and vote for their favourite. The District wide winner will be announced in June. Which book will win the SSPBOY Award?
This is the 9th year of the SSNNFBOY program. Narrative nonfiction books mix elements of fiction and nonfiction. These books read like a story but contain true facts and may be about real people or events. The 10 nominees will be shared with primary students during library classes and they will vote for their favourite title. The SSNNFBOY award winner will be announced in June.
