SACRAMENTs IN SCRIPTURE

“The goal of this book is to impart a deeper understanding and appreciation of the meaning and mystery of the sacraments. This study assumes that those using it have already received a basic catechesis of the sacraments. My aim is to provide a continuing education on the sacraments from a biblical perspective.

The subject of the sacraments opens up a tremendous vista. As a result, this brief survey of the sacraments is by no means exhaustive. Rather, the objective is to give the reader a vision of the profound depth of the sacraments in light of Scripture and salvation history. In particular, while there are many aspects of the sacraments that could be examined, this study focuses on the biblical understanding of the sacramental signs. And since sacraments are sensible signs of invisible realities, a deeper understanding of the biblical references for these signs should provide a deeper understanding of the invisible realities and mystery of the sacraments. My hope is that this survey might provide material for continuing biblical reflection on the sacraments.”
