Coming from a family with a strong literary background I have always been comforted by the smell of old books and by reading. Many people think journalism is a dying art, but I think it is quite the opposite. With new advancements in technology and shifts in the political environment, we need journalism more than ever. Any journalist knows that an article is more than writing words on a paper. Each article has a person behind it and every person has a story. Journalism has allowed me to tell people’s stories and meet them where they are. After all I want to be empathetic to others and tell their stories the best way I can. I am proud of a number of my works but these articles below have had the greatest impact on me due to the humanity that each one encompasses.

This article is my first major article regarding federal regulations. This article was fun to write, because I got to meet new people and learn about their experience in sports. This article won Best of Mississippi Depth Reporting. Click on the picture to access the article.
This is one of my works that I am most proud of. A few of my peers from my DECA club wanted me to write a article for their portfolio detailing professional dress and attitude. I had to write this article in an hour including getting photos and writing captions since their portfolio was due that same day. I loved helping my peers reach their best potential. This article won Best of SNO. Best of SNO is highly competitive and very hard to get into. Only 10% of stories are selected. Last year 15,000 stories were submitted from all across the world and only 1,900 of them got this award.
