Old Tracks

West Aurora - In 1926 farm land was purchased on West Galena Boulevard, following a community fundraising campaign, in order to construct a football field/track in the middle of the cornfields.  That site is now West Aurora high school.

Aurora East - Prior to the present location, the Tomcats played at Hurd Island. When the railroad decided that Hurd Island would be a perfect location for expansion it left Aurora East without athletic facilites. They started building the new complex in the spring of 1921.

Batavia - Batavia Field located at Illinois Avenue and Jackson Street in Batavia was developed for $15,000.  It's dedication was on Saturday September 27, 1924.  Batavia Field was renamed Memorial Field on July 27, 1946.  The first night meet was held there the following year on May 9, 1947.

St. Charles - Reid Field which was named for former Principal/Track Coach Russ Reid. It was built in 1926 at the corner of Main St. and Seventh St.  Thompson Jr. High School took over the building in 1977, when the high school moved to Dunham Rd. Thompson expanded its building in 2017 and the track was removed and a new one built.

Elgin - "Maroon Field was used through the 1961 season, when the Route 20 bypass cut off a substantial portion. The present Memorial Field was dedicated and first used on September 14, 1962."  Thanks to Glenn & Leandra Lyle 

Geneva - Burgess Field was named in honor of Frank A. Burgess, the first president of Geneva High School District #149.  The field was dedicated on Saturday October 7, 1922.  It is located just to the south of the high school.  Bleachers with a seating capacity of 400 were bought and installed.  Entrance to the bleachers was 15 cents.  The current track/football facility was dedicated on Friday September 19, 1975.

Aurora Driving Park - The 1st meet was held at this location in 1919.  It was a half mile oval and had many different uses.  In it's early days, they had harness races.  In the early 1900's, automobiles also raced there.  

Hampshire - The original track was located on South State Street which is now the middle school.  The new high school is located north and east of town on Big Timber rd.

Dundee - Dundee high school had a few different locations. Spain field was used from 1920's until 1984 when it consolidated with Irving Crown. The track was located east of Route 31 and west of the Fox River just north of Dundee Township West Cemetary.
