AICTE Training And Learning (ATAL)

Faculty Development Program (FDP)

Topics in Hardware Security

Date: 27th - 31st Dec 2021

Level: Basic/Elementary. Online mode.

Coordinators: Dr. Neeraj Goel, Dr. Shirshendu Das and Dr. Venkata Kalyan Tavva

Dept. of CSE, IIT Ropar.

About the FDP

Leakage of information is a serious issue, threatening the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive private data and brings up trust issues regarding the software and hardware components of the system. Hardware security has garnered increased attention post the discovery of Spectre and Meltdown attacks. With a deep understanding of many of the microarchitectural facets (like speculation, branch prediction, caches, DRAM, SSD), a multitude of attacks and countermeasures have been proposed/studied and implemented in the current day processors.

In this FDP we provide a common platform for the participants to listen and interact with subject matter experts in academia. The topics in the FDP span across system level to microarchitectural level security issues.

Expected outcome of the FDP

It is anticipated that this FDP will be useful for the participants to make them aware of the state-of-the-art hardware security issues, in process, encouraging some of them to take up further study and research. Related basic concepts will also be touched upon by the speakers.

Participants will get an opportunity to interact with subject experts and listen to their insights and experiences.

The topics of the FDP have a great research and development value in both academia and industry.

Target participants

This FDP is suitable for engineering faculty, practicing hardware engineers, scientists, PG students and research scholars. Interested candidates in Government and industry can also attend.
