We are the leading academic organization of health economics and policy experts in Korea. Since our founding on November 5, 1993, KAHEP has walked alongside the development of Korea's healthcare policies for over 30 years, contributing to the advancement of the national health system.

About KAHEP

Origins and Growth Our roots trace back to the 'Health Economics Research Group' formed in 1991. We took our first steps as a full-fledged academic organization by holding the Inaugural General Assembly and Academic Symposium at the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA) in 1993. In October 2003, the association adopted its current name, the Korean Association of Health Economics and Policy (KAHEP), and renamed our journal to The Korean Journal of Health Economics and Policy. These changes marked a significant expansion in our research scope and a commitment to enhanced professionalism.

A Hub for Multidisciplinary Convergence 

KAHEP serves as a platform where experts from diverse fields—including Economics, Public Health, Medicine, and Pharmacy—come together to break down boundaries and pursue multidisciplinary convergence. Based on this convergent thinking, we faithfully fulfill our role as a 'Policy Think Tank,' objectively evaluating domestic healthcare policies and proposing rational alternatives for a better future.

Academic Activities and Global Engagement 

We are dedicated to fostering academic excellence and global collaboration through various channels:

• Journal Publication: We publish The Korean Journal of Health Economics and Policy, a KCI (Korea Citation Index) listed journal, four times a year. Publishing over 20 high-quality papers annually, we also recognize excellence through our annual Best Paper Awards.

• Conferences & Forums: We host Spring and Autumn Annual Conferences to share the latest research findings. Furthermore, we organize timely Policy Forums to address major healthcare issues, offering objective evaluations and practical policy solutions.

• Global Network: KAHEP actively engages with the wider academic community. We participate in Korea's Allied Economic Associations Annual Meeting every February and lead global exchanges by organizing the Korea-Japan-Taiwan Joint Conference and participating in international health economics conferences.
