Hi! I’m Gab McDowell, and I’m currently a Senior studying Computational Physics at Juniata College. When I’m not in the physics lounge, I can be found singing with the concert choir, playing games with the esports team, and vibing in a hammock on the quad. This year I am a writing associate for a First Year Composition class, and a tutor for the writing center.
I love singing, playing guitar, drinking tea, and being outside (So, if anyone wants to have a socially distant outdoor tea-fueled jam session I’m down). Being in the outdoors is where I find peace and relaxation, whether it be hiking, biking, backpacking, or just walking, I especially love being in the woods, surrounded by trees and wildlife. The perfect moment for me would to be with a couple of people I love, in the woods, just relaxing, and listening to the sounds of the world around us.
I’m an environmentalist because I recognize how negatively human-derived climate change effects every part of our lives, beyond just nature: healthcare, economy, human rights; it’s a worldwide problem that can only be solved through worldwide co-operation, and it starts with each individual’s attitude to the world around them. Which is why I love being a part of EcoHouse, it’s a community of people who all love and care about the environment, all working together, holding each other accountable, and most importantly, helping each other grow in our stewardship of the earth.
Fun fact: My favorite animal is the giraffe, and I’m about as tall as a baby giraffe!
