Our group investigates growth of III-V semiconductors to demonstrate high performance, novel photonic devices. We are interested in the growth of metamorphic III-V semiconductors that overcome lattice-mismatch constraints. Through this, we freely engineer energy band gaps to enable new functionalities that cannot be obtained through conventional lattice match growth condition.

2026.3 Daehwan has given an invited talk at KPVS conference (태양광발전학회 춘계학술대회) about "20.0% efficient III-V/Silicon monolithic solar cells enabled by high energy gap n-AlGaAs buffer".
2026.3 Daehwan has given an invited seminar at Seoul National University about "Metamorphic epitaxy of III-V semiconductors for next-generation photonic devices".
2026.3 Eungbeom's paper about "Low-threshold SWIR GaSb-based MQW laser diodes enabled by optimized growth of active region" has been published in Materials Today Communications (IF=4.5). This is our group's first GaSb-based laser diode paper. Congrats!
2026.2 Daehwan has given an invited talk at 한국광학회 동계학술발표대회 (부산 벡스코) about "Next-genearation III-V semiconductor infrared photodetectors for thermal imaging sensors".
2026.2 Tim Laryn has won the KIST 60th anniversary best student award among the KIST school students. He has been working on epitaxial QD surface emitting diodes on silicon substrates for photonic integrated circuits and sensing applications. Congrats!
2026.1 Yeonhwa has won the best student paper award at KCS 2026 (한국반도체학술대회) for her work on "epitaxial III-V/Silicon tandem solar cells". She also received 3,000,000 won for prize. Big congrats!

2026.1 Prof. Qiang Li has given a seminar about III-V MOCVD epitaxy for silicon photonics application. Daehwan and Qiang are carrying out an international joint research fund supported by Korea NRF and UK Royal Society to develop efficient light source for silicon photonic applications.
