YALSA's Teen Services Competencies for Library Staff: Teen Growth and Development; Youth Engagement and Leadership; Community and Family Engagement
Course: LIS 60626 Engaging Teens
I created this podcast programming proposal for LIS 60626 Engaging Teens based on a fictional $500 programming grant. With the money, I was able to build a flexible recording studio, equipment, and podcast streaming subscription. These materials are also sustainable to the library as they can be adapted for other podcast programming or recording activities, an important aspect of purchasing on a limited budget. Teens today should feel empowered to use their voice, recognize that their stories matter, and be provided the opportunity to use their voice to connect with the community and their peers. My goal for this proposal was to create a program that was flexible and adaptable to safe pandemic practices, utilized popular and familiar technology, fostered partnerships with community schools and local business sponsor, and be inclusive and accessible to all teens in the community.
