Course: LIS 61095 Information Services to Diverse Populations
This resources brochure was developed for LIS 61095 Information Services to Diverse Populations as part of a multi-part outreach project for an underserved population within the library community. Librarians are seeing their roles expand and evolve as libraries themselves experience evolution towards functioning as community centers committed to meeting the varied information and recreation needs of the whole community. Underserved populations exist in every community and libraries can employ outreach initiatives to reach these underserved populations where they are. This outreach project required me to use US census and community demographics to identify an underserved population within the library community, which is something all librarians should be able to do in order to understand their community’s needs, history, and dynamics. My goal for this project was to build a set of local and regional resources for the Asian American and Asian immigrant community in Cuyahoga Falls, OH and create a pamphlet for the library to have on hand for use within the library and at events out in the community.
