José Simental Rodríguez

I am an Investigador Asociado C (roughly eq. TT Assistant Professor) at the Instituto de Matemáticas  of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

Broadly speaking, I am interested in Representation theory and its interactions with combinatorics and geometry. For more details see my research page. You can find my CV here (last updated: 5/5/23).

News

-With Anna Barbieri, Lara Bossinger, İlke Çanakçı, Giovanni Cerulli Irelli, Daniel Labardini Fragoso, Pierre-Guy Plamondon and Salvatore Stella, we are organizing a monthy Cluster Colloquium, meeting online the second Thursday of every month, starting February 2025. 

-With Christof Geiss, Iva Halacheva, Joel Kamnitzer, Aaron Lauda, Alistair Savage, Harold Williams and Milen Yakimov we are organizing the Seventh Canada-Mexico-US Conference on Representation theory, Noncommutative algebra, and Categorification at USC, July 28-31 2025.

-I'm thrilled to be co-leading WARTHOG 2025 with Eugene Gorsky and Melissa Sherman-Bennett, on cluster algebras and braid varieties. University of Oregon, August 18-22 2025. 

-With Greta Panova and Mike Zabrocki we are organizing a workshop on Computation in Representation Theory at ICERM, November 10-14 2025. This workshop is taking place within the semester-long program Categorification and Computation in Algebraic Combinatorics.

-I'll be giving a 3-hour minicourse on braid varieties, at the ICRA 2026 in Grenoble, France, June 2026.
