Score Breakdown
In order to pass your physical exam, you need a physical fitness test score of at least 50. The score is broken down into 3 parts which are as follows:
1 Mile Run - 60%
1 Minute Pushups - 20%
1 Minute Sit-ups - 20%
In order to calculate your overall score, first find the percentiles that you fall under in each category. Using myself as an example, when I was 16 I had the scores of:
6:42 Mile Run - 65th percentile
67 Pushups - 95th percentile
53 Sit-ups - 80th percentile
To calculate my overall score, I would add the run percentile number 6 times and the pushups and sit-ups percentile numbers up 2 times, respectively. So:
(65+65+65+65+65+65) + (95+95) + (80+80) = 740
Then divide the total by 10. So:
740/10=74
My total fitness score overall was a 74.
As you can see, by far the highest priority you should have is to get the lowest mile run time possible. The mile run accounts for 60% of your overall fitness score, and, as a result, can even bring strong athletes down below the minimum score of 50. In order to improve your scores, one of the best ways to do so is to do group workouts.
