General Scholarship Information:
Driven by the upcoming demand for pilots, the Air Force is giving funding for 200+ cadets to receive their private pilots licenses at partnering universities around the country. Over the course of eight weeks in the summer, cadets will travel to an Academy-partnered university and take ground school classes while simultaneously doing multiple flights a week in single engine aircraft. Cadets accepted into the Air Force JROTC Flight Academy will receive approximately $25,000 in funding to receive their private pilot's licenses. In order to get accepted, candidates will have to get their applications reviewed by an Air Force selection board, who will then contact the selected and alternate cadets.
Scholarship Benefits:
In addition to receiving a private pilot's license, cadets will also receive college credit through the university at which they are attending. These credits will be accepted by the university if the cadet chooses to return to the same college full-time after high school, and can potentially transfer to other universities as well. Whilst attending the Flight Academy, cadets are enrolled in the university at which they are attending as students. So, in addition to becoming a pilot, cadets get the full benefits of a summer-long college experience. While on campus, cadets will be able to use the university's dormitories, recreational/fitness spaces, and cafeterias. This is a good benefit that helps cadets experience the responsibilities that come along with being a full-time college student.
