Wellbeing Wednesday for Educators is an initiative led by Stef Wilkinson and Steph Cash. Born out of a discussion about raising the profile of wellbeing for teachers, the issues with teacher retention and our common passion for health and wellness, we bring you wellbeing sessions and wellbeing experts every Wednesday evening, Wednesdays in half term as well as creating and designing wellbeing packages for schools, colleges, universities and educational settings. We have partnered with wellbeing specialists to bring key learning about wellbeing and personal development to anyone involved in education.
I am on a mission to help promote health and wellbeing for teachers.
Throughout my career, I have worked in pursuit of the highest professional standards of education and training with wellbeing in mind. I have had a varied and rich career in both the private and public sectors from media production, sports, leisure and equine industries, to running my own successful teaching business for a number of years. I have more recently pursued my teaching career and specialised in Early Years Foundation Stages in Primary Education.
As I reflect on my experiences over the past three years, I have recognised that education struggles to maintain is a consistent approach in supporting personal health and wellbeing. I have observed that for many educational settings, this is a lower priority in favour of the children, adults/clients. I believe that all organisations, private or public sector, should prioritise staff wellbeing in order for maximum and successful business outcomes. Supporting and building a happy, positive working culture through unity and collaboration has always been something I have strived for personally and for others, of which wellbeing is key. I am extremely excited about sharing this incredible initiative with you all.
Often a vocation and not just a job, teachers love what they do, but their wellbeing is often compromised due to heavy workloads and the sense of responsibility they have to their students. Having suffered with a significant health issue as a teacher, I recognised that what I was doing was not sustainable and from then on found ways to maximise my health and wellbeing so that I could still give education my all.
Now more than ever, teacher wellbeing is a priority and I am passionate about bringing impactful wellbeing solutions and learning to educators everywhere, directly and on a wider scale, supporting schools and colleges to provide a thoughtful and beneficial wellbeing solution to their staff teams.
Having led on teacher wellbeing and mindset for the last 5 years, I have seen the positive impact that holistic wellbeing programmes can have on teacher motivation and resilience. I can't wait to bring the wellbeing programmes and partners to you.
