For the Group Global Project, I chose Greece as my country. I partnered with Maia and she chose India as her country. This project taught me new things about both countries that I did not know. The countries have many similarities and even get along well together. However, there are also many differences. India is a very big country compared to Greece, which is small. Greece has a better infrastructure than when it comes to technology. Even though Greece is still limited on their technology use to an extent, they are still more advanced than India. The biggest thing that stuck out to me was that in Greece, the older generation is more populated than the younger generation by a big percentage and the amount of births are declining each year. This is a big concern for many people in Greece. It also surprised me that as big as India is, that their technology and infrastructure isn't better than Greece's, which is much smaller. Overall, this project was really fun exploring and researching. I love to learn new things, especially about somwhere I have never been to.
Something I took away from this project was how similar our two countries were. I didn't think India and Greece would have anything in common. However, I was surprised. One example is how India and Greece are both rich in history and culture. Learning about another countries' culture, demographics and even how they use their technology is interesting and insightful. It also reminds me to be grateful and thankful that I live in a country that is advanced and has so much access to technology, even in remote areas. As much as I think technology has hurt society in some ways, It has also tremedously helped society in many ways. This project has helped me see and appreciate it more. My partner and I collaborated on this project by speaking on the phone with each other while we worked on it and through text. We both worked together to make it our own and we are proud of it! I am happy that I had Maia as my partner, she was very kind and we aligned in a lot of ways with how we wanted the project to look. :)
Unit 5 Terms
Digital Divide
The gap between individuals, households, businesses, and geographic areas at different socioeconomic levels regarding both their opportunities to access information and communication technologies and their use of the internet.
Emerging Technology
Artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, and advanced robotics are expected to create significant social, economic, or security impacts within the next five years.
What did you learn about researching and presenting information by completing the two projects in this unit?
I learned that researching and presenting information is vital for the project's credibility. Making sure you find viable and legitimate resources for the project is key. Presenting the information in a concise and organized way takes the project to a whole new level.
