The aim of this piece of work was to explore the patterns and beauty in the death and destruction involved in diseases, specifically plant diseases. In research I explored the disease phytophthora, which means plant-destroyer, looking into the patterns it creates through the pathways it takes. Additionally, I wanted to investigate the human aspect to the disease spread and how such destructive organisms and bacteria live on our bodies and clothes and therefore use us as a vessel to travel, furthering the destruction. To depict these pathways of travel I embroidered shirts with thread and died them with home made plant dyes to show each stage of the death and decay.
