Natural growth
Natural growth
Ink and watercolour on paper, 2023
In this project I explored the balance between gross, bizarre, beautiful and unique in the patterns, textures and forms that appear in nature. I largely focused on the intricate details seen in mould, fungi and lichens. In creating these works I aimed to use ink and watercolours as I am interested in how the materials used to create art can naturally flow and be guided to create natural forms through gravty or natural processes such as what happens to ink when it interacts with salt. I am very interested in looking at the relationshiop between the natural world and art and how it changes your practice to allow for organic textures and shapes to form and how we can view these aspects in awe and disgust.
