Acrylic paint posters, 2024
Nothing about us without us is a slogan used within disability protests and rights movements and calls for people with disabilities to be included in decisions and policy making. The slogan connotes to how those with disabilities are often marginalised and excluded from opportunities. I took inspiration from the posters and banners seen within disability rights marches and protests which portray such slogans as 'fix the system not me' and uplift and amplify the voices of people with disabilities. Additionally, I am interested in taking medical imaging and turning it into art as such silhouettes create interesting interactions with the text. Here, I wanted to reclaim mine and my sister's medical scans and turn them into symbols within my practice of unique power and strength.
