Josie Millward
Bio
Hello, my name is Josie Millward, I'm an actress who started my career at South Mountain High School. I started with wanting to be an animator and while that's still a dream acting has really caught my attention in these past few years. I started out during the covid-19 pandemic when everything was online but now I've been able to perform on stage and have performed in several shows including:
- A zombie busniess man from "All i really need to know, i learned from being a zombie".
- An emsemble member from the musical "Grease".
- A police officer, Mr.Santoro, and the Understudy of Monica Wells from " Rehearsal for Murder"
- Cedric and Voldemort in "Puffs"
- A lighthouse lady in "This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cry's, and This Girl does Nothing"
Utah Shakespeare preformance
A special mention to the Utah Shakespeare performance, we had to go out of state ( Arizona) to Utah in order to participate. My group went with Act 4, Scene 5 from Hamlet where I played Laretes! This was the first time I had to go out of state in order to preform and it was very exciting with only five of us to preform this scene!
One Act Festival
The One Act preformance was an event where different schools preformed vared genres from comedy's, trages, etc. Me and two other students were picked to represent our school and we decided to preform the comdey/drama Postponing The Heat Death of the Universe where I played Nick.
Appreciation for my director
All of this wasn't possible without my director Ms. Cortes, she's been my theatre teacher for three years and has been a teacher at South Mountain High School for four years. Ms. Cortes has taught herself lights and sounds for our shows and while it might be a struggle, she always makes magic happen in these shows; she also helps builds our sets and even repairs costumes to the best of her abilities and asks for help when she needs it. I along with everyone else deeply appreciate her as a teacher, director, and as a person.
What's the focus here?
We know many things are important when it comes to making our show great, but what adds to the magic of theatre? The costumes! So for my capstone I wanted to focus on making an outfit based on my first musical preforming in, Grease!
