Using pcpartpicker.com I picked specific parts in order to virtually build a PC optimized for gaming which is what I primarily use desktop PC's for. Each part was handpicked to keep a budget while also optimizing the build as much as possible. Below is a list of parts with an image, link, and price with a lessons learned paragraph at the end. At the bottom of this page is a download link for the full project.
By building a virtual PC, I learned about the many different hardware components that go into building a PC. I also learned about the limitations when it came to building the PC such as number of ports, port type, and part compatibility. In optimizing the PC I learned about the importance of certain parts when it came to optimization such as the fact that for a gaming optimized PC you may need to purchase a significantly more expensive and thus stronger GPU compared to if you were building a work optimized PC.
