JUMC Missions and Outreach coordinates and facilitates the mission ministry of the congregation; educates the congregation about outreach opportunities; supports both local and international outreach.

LOCAL MISSIONS & OUTREACH

Food Pantry

We provide the local food pantry with Soup-er Bowl Sunday, and also providing helpers for the holiday sorting, packing, and distributing at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. We collect weekly donations and also monetary gifts.  Volunteers can sort and pack food for our Thursday evening food distribution from 5:00-6:30 pm. The pantry is located here at the Jordan United Methodist Church at 63 Elbridge St. in Jordan.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides beds, at no cost, to children ages 3-17 who are sleeping in undesirable conditions such as on a floor, sofa, or air mattress. JUMC collects bedding to support this cause. 

In My Father's Kitchen

IMFK provides food and necessities to the homeless on the streets, on a consistent, compassionate basis, until the individual is comfortable accepting help.

New Hope Family Services

New Hope Family Services is a premier pregnancy center offering counseling, education, pregnancy options, and resources to women and men facing pregnancy decisions. JUMC organizes diaper collections and baby bottle donation campaigns to support the center. 

CONFERENCE/ NATIONAL MISSIONS & OUTREACH

United Methodist Special Sundays

Special Sundays are days of celebration when individuals and congregations across The United Methodist Church come together to support meaningful causes that reach beyond their local communities. On churchwide and annual conference Sundays, a special offering is collected to help fund efforts like disaster response, support for Native American ministries, scholarships for students, and initiatives that promote justice and equality.

Red Bird Mission Shoeboxes

Red Bird Mission, founded in 1921 in southeastern Kentucky, is one of three United Methodist missionary conferences in the U.S., offering holistic ministry that serves spiritual, physical, social, and economic needs. United Methodists across the Upper New York Annual Conference support this work through the shoebox mission. Shoeboxes are filled with toiletries and warm gloves, hats, and scarves for adults and children. Donations are collected at the beginning of November. 

GLOBAL MISSIONS & OUTREACH

Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan's Purse) 

Operation Christmas Child is a global project run by Samaritan's Purse that fills ordinary shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to give to children in need around the world. Each fall we begin to collect items to send in our shoe boxes as we bring smiles to children in need around the world.  

Church World Service

In May we honor our mothers by raising money for Church World Service in order to supply blankets when disasters strikes.   We honor our fathers in June by raising funds for Church World Service. They buy tools which help people around the world gain the resources and develop the skills necessary to sustain themselves and their families and build viable communities. In the Fall, we support the community CROP WALK, which helps us to support our food pantry.
