We believe that faith is a lifelong journey of learning, growing, and asking questions. At Jordan United Methodist Church, Christian education provides opportunities for people of all ages to deepen their understanding of Scripture, explore their faith, and grow in relationship with God and one another. From our youngest members taking their first steps in faith, to adults exploring Scripture together, we seek to create a welcoming environment where everyone can learn and grow. Our Christian education ministries include Children's Ministry, Baptism, Confirmation, and Adult Bible Study.
Our Adult Bible Study offers an opportunity to explore Scripture and grow in faith together. Studies vary, sometimes focusing on a particular book of the Bible and other times on a faith-based book or topic. Meeting times are scheduled as needed, with afternoon and evening options based on what works best for participants. No matter your level of Bible knowledge or experience, all are welcome to join the conversation, ask questions, and learn together.
Children's Sunday School is offered during church service directly following Children's Time and ends at the completion of the church service. It is developed for children aged 4 through 12 years (6th grade). The classes run September through June with a break for the summer months. Lessons are provided by educators from our church congregation. Snacks are provided to all children.
Children ages 19 months to 4 years of age are welcome to attend the Preschool Play Room directly following the Children's time of church service. The Preschool Play Room is monitored by an adult and allows for the little ones room to get their wiggles out!
The Nursery Room is available for caregivers to use with their children up to 18 months. Some of the amentities in the room include a changing station, pack n' play, caregiver rocking chair, infant seats and play mats, along with age-appropriate toys.
You are able to hear the sermon through the room's loudspeaker. Feel free to change the volume with the dial to the left of the door.
Baptism is a celebration of God's grace and a welcome into the family of Christ. In baptism, we affirm God's love for us, receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, and become part of the community of faith.
At Jordan United Methodist Church, we celebrate the baptism of children as well as adults. When a child is baptized, parents and the congregation promise to surround that child with love, prayer, teaching, and Christian community as they grow in faith.
Baptism is more than a single day or ceremony—it is the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith. We invite families seeking baptism to become part of the life of our church, worshiping, learning, serving, and growing together as a family of faith.
What to Expect
Families interested in baptism will meet with our pastor beforehand to talk about the meaning of baptism, the baptismal promises, and how Jordan United Methodist Church can support your family as you grow in faith.
If you are interested in baptism for yourself or your child, please contact the church office or speak with our pastor. We would love to talk with you about this meaningful step in your faith journey.
Confirmation is an opportunity for young people to explore their faith, learn more about the Christian tradition, and consider what it means to make their faith their own. Beginning in September, Jordan UMC youth will join young people from several area United Methodist churches for a 10-week confirmation experience at Marcellus United Methodist Church. Together, participants will explore Scripture, the beliefs and practices of the United Methodist Church, and what it means to live out their faith as part of a Christian community.
