UPLIFT Lab

We are a team of counseling psychologists and counseling psychology trainees committed to bringing forward voices that have been silenced, particularly those of trans people of color. Through qualitative and community-engaged research, we study healing in communities affected by systemic harm and develop approaches to psychotherapy that respond to their experiences, strengths, and priorities. We work to carry what we learn beyond academia into practice, resources, and social action.

Description of Our Logo

The UPLIFT name symbolizes our commitment to uplifting voices that have been silenced, particularly the voices of trans people of color represented in the surrounding ring. The candle represents bringing light to stories, strengths, and ways of knowing of our communities. 

The candle also reflects our understanding that we conduct this work through our own embodied relationships to community. As community members, we use our positions, bodies, and values to help illuminate and uplift voices within our communities.
