The brainchild of GyroGear is Founder and CEO Joon Faii Ong, GyroGlove has the potential to help millions of people with hand tremors. Through GyroGlove, Dr. Faii Ong hopes to reduce the use of drugs for counteracting hand tremors, given that a lot of these drugs have been proven to carry adverse effects.
Dr. Faii Ong explains that GyroGlove's primary function is to emit a counteractive force to stabilise hand tremors. This force helps patients with hand tremors maintain balance and, ultimately, control of their hands. GyroGlove essentially dampens hand tremors as patients experience the freedom to move their hands as intended.
Essential Tremor affects approximately 200 million people globally, and is present in individuals of all ages. Parkinson's affects the cognitive ability and physical movement of over 10 million people worldwide. Both conditions usually experience mild hand tremors before progressing to more severe trembling, which affects everyday activity. GyroGlove can be of tremendous help to these people, explains Joon Faii Ong.
