GyroGlove is a revolutionary wearable developed by the company GyroGear, which is gaining a lot of attention in both the healthcare and tech industries, even winning second place at the Slingshot 2020 the largest deep tech start-up competition in Asia. Conceptualized and created by GyroGear founder and leader Joon Faii Ong, GyroGlove has the potential to help millions of people who are struggling with hand tremors.
Because of his desire to help an elderly patient suffering from severe tremors, Joon Faii Ong discovered a way to use gyroscope principles to counteract the force of hand tremors and effectively stabilise hand movement. He called the practical application GyroGlove.
Joon Faii Ong and his team have gone through a lot of planning, design, and testing stages, working closely with patients suffering from diseases and disorders that cause hand tremors to ensure the effectiveness of GyroGlove.
There are around 10 million people worldwide and 127,000 people in the UK affected by Parkinson’s. This disease is progressive and neurological, and it affects movement in many ways. One of the main symptoms of Parkinson’s is tremor, which in many cases can significantly affect people’s ability to eat and drink, dress, write, hold objects, and function normally in their daily lives.
While there is no cure for the disease at the moment, there are treatment options which mostly include medication.
This is where GyroGlove comes in. GyroGlove has the potential to restore normal hand movement and greatly diminish hand tremor. And unlike medication, it does not lose efficacy through ongoing use and does not have any expected side effects.
