Creating a Zine on the subject of off-road trucks

The focus of this assignment was to demonstrate my skills in print layout using the Adobe InDesign system

Skills:

• Used Adobe InDesign to create a short magazine, otherwise known as a Zine.

• Researched possible topics that could be included in the zine without needing licenses.

This project required me to create a short zine on a topic of my choosing. After deciding to cover off-road trucks, a personal hobby of mine. I decided on a tutorial for building a trail welding system and a covering the return of the Jeep Gladiator, which had just been announced at the time.

Situation— I needed to create a zine that demonstrated my skills with print layout.

Tasks— Design and print a finished zine that could be displayed among my peers.

Action— I first researched possible articles both related to the topic and that I could include without needing licenses. After deciding on these, I wrote the bulk of the content for the zine in Microsoft Word, then designed the layout using InDesign. Once I had all the pages laid out, I transferred the content from word to InDesign and added photos to the tutorial and article.

Results—The result was a short zine covering two topics with front and back cover photos, as well as a list of off road events and local off-road clubs.
