John F. Caddy

PhD (1940-2021)

Marine Sciences, Natural Philosophy and Arts

Who is John F. Caddy

I'm a researcher expert in fisheries theory and an artist.

My initial speciality was in underwater ecosystem studies and fishing gear performance, where I was encouraged to find research applications for scuba and submersibles. The emphasis then was on research vessel surveys, monitoring commercial fleets, and acting as an advisor to the shellfish (mainly scallop) industry.

I later had a role in applied population studies and fisheries management applications, and took part in meetings of the ICNAF, ICES and ICCAT Commissions.

As senior resource officer at FAO, I had the opportunity to work with scientists and fishery managers from many countries.

Scope of this website

Assembling his past investigations in a curriculum vitae is necessary if a scientist wishes to make them available to other workers. The contents of a curriculum vitae are normally restricted to refereed scientific outputs, and this was true while I was working as a marine biologist for the Canadian Government, and as an expert in international fisheries for FAO. About this immediate objective, I want to make my work available to those scientists in so-called developing countries with whom I worked in my FAO years, since for them, my most relevant studies may have been those carried out before the availability of pdf’s; and this early work is not found in local libraries. Later in life my obsession with science made way for a broader focus on other activities, including the visual arts and music, but more generally, to curiosity as to the origins of our species, and our original sensory capabilities before literacy and materialism focussed our attention on the narrow field of ‘objective observations.

What started as a hobby in my 40’s and 50’s was later taken seriously through a study of what is called variously, qi, prana, orgone, and other terms describing ‘natural energy fields’. This has been brought closer to the fringes of science through the activities of James Lovelock and the Society for Scientific Investigation. There appears nowadays to be a revival of interest in paranormal activities and so-called ‘subtle energy fields’. These became physically evident for me after education into Pranic Healing practices, dowsing, and the practical teachings of that great sifu or energy master, Howard Lee: famed for the cure he effected on the famous author Carlos Castaneda. The books written by this last author, and Ken Eagle Feather on the so-called ‘Toltec Path’, suggested that their teacher, Don Juan was not a fictional character, but reflected the existence of an original ancient body of arcane knowledge usually referred to as Shamanism. What became evident from historical research, was that this body of knowledge was driven underground in Europe, first by Julius Caesar in his slaughter of the Druids, and later by the Inquisition. The collaborative work between skilled meditators and top scientists such as William Tiller, showed that the discredited conclusions of Wilhelm Reich on orgone deserve to be revisited. Recent knowledge of the presence of many extraterrestrial visitors (ETs) in our skies is now gradually becoming common knowledge after a period since the Second World War when public discussion of UFO phenomena was actively prohibited in many countries. Thus, the contents of this website have been extended to include all my interests, scientific, artistic, and what may be called ‘Natural Philosophy’. The reason being that the investigation of ‘scientific anomalies’ assumes a higher importance as we prepare for closer contacts with so-called ET’s.

This website is dedicated on the one side to past investigations of Fisheries and Ocean Science where psychic phenomena and influences play no part, and all other subjects falling under the sub/title Other Matters, where ocean science is not discussed.

Take your pick!

Fisheries Science

It became evident while working for FAO on developing country problems, that much of my work before 1990 was unavailable to developing country fishery workers, without them having access to a library with fishery and marine science journals.

So I decided to make my work publicly available on this website.

Other Matters

Later in life my obsession with science made way for a broader focus on other activities, including the visual arts and music, but more generally, to curiosity as to the origins of our species, and our original sensory capabilities before literacy and materialism focussed our attention on the narrow field of ‘objective observations. These outputs (important to me, though largely independent of my work in Science) kept me moderately sane in my spare time.
