During the school year of 2018-2019, Varsity Archery has placed 2nd as a team overall and c/CPT Kaylee Phommachanh placed 1st individually district-wide. The team was awarded with a varsity letter during the 2019 JROTC Banquet for their magnificent performance during the season. The team’s impressive skill continued when archers Jason Erlandson, Minhanh Pham, and Asael Serna placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in California state for the junior class during the school year of 2019-2020 with the team’s previous commander, Cassidy Meade, taking 2nd place for senior class.
We were told that they are the best Archery Team the instructors have ever had, and Madison High School intends on keeping it that way with our upcoming wins this school year. Watch out fellow archers! It's a "Madhouse" in the range!
Individual: Placed 1st Overall
Team: Placed 2nd Overall
Madison's JROTC archers are bringing on the heat with these amazing scores during on of our practice rounds!
A great outlet to release your stress and compete against your fellow cadet archers from Madison and other schools in the district! Besides from practicing and participating in competitions, the Archery team also engages in a yearly event called NASP, the National Archery in the Schools Program. It is an in-school program that is aimed for improving and maximizing archers’ proficiency, self-control, discipline, and patience. Not only that, the archers are also given life lessons that will be helpful for their academic and social life.
(Varsity) Archery Commander
c/CPT Minh Pham
During the 2020-2021 school year, Minhanh Pham will be the team commander of our battalion's Varsity Archery team. As the team commander, she is responsible for observing each member's skills individually, giving comments that will ensure the archer's max proficiency, and planning out the practice and competition dates. Since her sophomore year, she has been a member of the Varsity Archery team; the team placed second in 2019 while she placed 2nd in her class district-wide in 2020. Apart from being the team commander, she is also the S-4 Logistic Officer this upcoming school year, where she is responsible for maintenance and supply and services for the battalion. Outside of the JROTC activities, she was a tennis player during her freshman and sophomore year, where she was one of the three solo players among the Junior Varsity members. After high school graduation, Pham intends to attend a four-year university, where she can pursue her dream as a registered nurse. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 virus, this commander has a high expectation of the Archery team and trusts that the members have the same goal as her: to aim for number 1 throughout the district, and beyond the state. "It is not impossible when we work together," as she has said.
