Possible Front Cover (12-21-21) Illustrated by Ben Lynch

The Truth About Max...

I started writing this book years ago, well before Pop Pop's Bird, but never finished it, it just wasn't ready.

Fast forward to a few more years of teaching, watching things change in the  world of education (pandemic, trauma, technology), and children who are in need of true intervention and help, I revisited the story about Max and rewrote his story.

The Truth About Max is about a student who is trying to navigate the world of school, all while dealing with his own trauma.  The story doesn't just stay with Max though, it's a story about friendship, empathy, and compassion as seen through the eyes of Max and his new classmates.

This book will be a resource for teachers and parents, but also a read aloud.  This is not a picture book, it's a short story about Max, but includes purposeful stopping points, with specific questions, to generate a discussion, explore empathy and compassion, and apply it to real life.

The Truth About Max is coming soon!

Working on the front cover!  This illustration was created by my son Ben (who was 12 at the time).  I am so proud!  🥰

The Truth About Max is almost ready...

I'm tweaking the text just a bit, getting a few personal comments from educators who have already read the story, and we're getting ready to publish on Amazon shortly!

Stay tuned!
