Joshua Caesar O. Elegado, I-BA Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Inception (2010), a Reflection
Is there a difference between the real world and the dream world? Yes, probably because there is a quite distinction between reality and the dreamy world. First, we can say is that in the real world there is actually a sense of determinism due to the fact that our physical body is having a limit over something. Rules, laws, and regulations are some of the preventive ways that we as a person in the real world should obey or we would end up detained and captivated. In the dream world, however, we are actually free in thinking, free in whatever we would like to do, and nothing will prohibit us from doing it so. The first point is actually freedom and determinism. Second is that, in the real world, having it imagined, and the thing we actually sense is actually having the laws of physics, wherein, such gravity works as it is. In a dream world, we can bend the laws of physics due to our complete imagination making it happen. The second point is actually about the absolute laws of physics in the real actual world that we can easily bend in the dream world. With those two points being raised, we can say that those two points of argument we can easily determine what is real and what is not. The point here after all is that these things are all about the issue that we ‘KNOW’ about reality, and not what we ‘BELIEVE’ in dreamily. So, there is a difference between the real world and the real world. What is real? When can we say that what is real is true? What we know and what we believe is sometimes the thing in which we actually determine what is real and what is not, but somehow, these two things can lead us to cloud leaving us in confusion. Having the known dream yet we actually believe it, can lead us into continuous miscomprehension of what is real and what is not, to the extent that we will have no total control of such dream to distinguish whether it is real or not. So what is real? It is actually how we grasp things that we know that keeps us in check of reality, such as the totem in the movie, and the grasp of the physics that we obviously observe in the reality, and the face of the reality that we are determined. When in confusion, always doubt, as all things must be in reference of the First Meditation of Descartes, yet, in all things grasp, always we must remember, that certainty is when we establish the CLEAR and DISTINCT idea in accordance to the third meditation of Descartes to cave in to the reality and that we say, what is true is entailed with reality. Can there be ethics in truth values and truth claims? Truth-values are opted to be a justification of such statement whether it is truthful or falsity, it is set for rectification purposes, hence, we can actually say that it is something ethical considering rectification of the wrong and its something to be raised for it is for the betterment in general. But, when talking about truth-claims, it is something tricky, for can not claim the truth that easily, some truths are sometimes to uphold and some to be disposed of, sometimes it is not so ethical when upholding a truth that destroys the entire, bad face of truth, hence, truth-claim is something to be considered ethical at some time but not all the time. Imagine having to claim the truth, and not considering any other claims for it is something as truthful as the truth that one claimed to be is, therefore, it is a pride for upholding the truth in a very wrong way. The truth is something that is to be strengthened, not a weapon for destroying. Remember, always doubt, never be contented to a single truth.
To conclude, to entail the three bold formatted questions raised, I am here to say that, there is actually a difference between a dream and reality, and there must be a distinction between the two in order for us to not be trapped in confusion of having the dream as the reality, always remember to have a grasp of just small details to keep in track of the reality. Even though that our mind is in charge of anything, for me, it is always important to have reality be part of the whole of our lives and our dream is to be visited and not a place to stay. Realness is entailed with truth in a certainty condition, never again for the confusion. There are ethics in truth-value for it is made for the rectification of the falsity, and for the betterment in general terms.
