One of my proudest achievements in my high school youth will always be remembered as this production, one that I was involved in for over a year in a journey of developing a script that started off as nothing but an abandoned zoom show. Written by Ozzie Quintana, the script follows the efforts of the first woman in space and the intense training that a group of traines went through for the opportunity of being known as the first. With it starting off as a forgoten show, the budget and need for tech was essentially none, with only ever having a lighting designer but with the cast and story inspiring me to believe in the shows capabilities, we used our entire summer to work together to make this show as grand as what we felt it deserved. Due to my closeness with the project as I essentially took care of all costumes, makeup, publicity, set, and sound design choices and was chosen to call the show (along with sound op.) since I had worked on it to the point of memorization. My hard work paid off as the show, which we only had the intention of wanting to perform for a crowd, swept awards at the Florida Theatre Convention (FTC), awarding me best stage manager and sound designer in Florida and granting us the chance to attend SETC to continue competing as a One Act. This show was what catapulted my want to sound design and proved to me that my goals were actually tangible.
