PHYSICAL TRAINING

 

Twice per week, cadets will take part in physical training. The uniform will consist of the JFK MCJROTC shirt, MCJROTC shorts and athletic shoes. Prior to stretching, cadets will be formed for PT. See the MCJROTC Master Syllabus for grading policy.

 

To form for Physical Training

1. The platoon sergeant marches the platoon to the designated location.  They face the platoon to the left, instruct the Guide and platoon, and command “Fall Out

EXAMPLE:

Platoon, HALT!”

Left, FACE!”

Guide, plant the Guidon

When you receive the command, form a circle around your platoon commander

FALL OUT!


2. The platoon forms a circle around the platoon commander, platoon sergeant and Guide at approximately two arm’s length interval for Warmup / Stretch / Cooldown:

EXAMPLE:

Your first / next / last warmup / stretch / cooldown exercise is: _______. This is 4count / Echo-count exercise; we will do 10 of them. I will count the cadence, you will count the repetition. Starting positions, MOVE! STRETCH! (EXERCISE)”

3. Upon the completion of Warmup / Stretch / Cooldown, the platoon will be formed and marched back to the classroom (100% accountability is a must).

 

PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST

The MCJROTC PFT will be conducted at least twice per year, and at least once per semester. The PFT consists of three events: pullups or pushups, crunches, and a one-mile run. During the execution of the PFT, cadets may score up to 100 points in each event for a total of 300 points. Execution and scoring will be accomplished per the charts below.

During the PFT, should a cadet be unable to perform a single pullup, that cadet may execute pushups as an alternative exercise to the pull up. Since the pushup is an alternative exercise, 60 points will be the maximum achievable score for that portion of the PFT. This is to incentivize cadets towards performing pullups.

The Senior Marine Instructor may award Certificates of Physical Achievement for those with high score in an event and/or total score.
