During the COVID-19 Pandemic, my co-teacher and I decided to pivot our instruction toward personal fitness since it more closely aligned with the restrictions at the time. That change in thought motivated us to take an unused storage room in our gym and turn it into a weight room for our P.E. classes, staff, and student-athletes. This space allowed us to completely overhaul our classes and give our students a more comprehensive experience that you would more commonly see at the high school level.

One of the biggest hurdles for people just beginning their fitness journey is a lack of knowledge of the exercise machines and equipment. We eliminated that hurdle by placing QR codes throughout the weight room.
QR Codes were attached to most pieces of equipment to help beginning users navigate the weight room. Each QR Code takes the user to a unique website with a guide on how to use that equipment and a video workout. The video is then able to be displayed on the TV giving the user their own personal trainer in the room.
