Many of us have used monopoly in our classes. Students enjoy playing the game and then recording their transactions and completing the accounting cycle. I've quit playing it with my classes because I didn't have a comparable way to incorporate the same experience for my asynchronous online classes. That is until now.....
I've created an online game version! The students will play against the computer and record their transactions as they play. They will have two rounds around the board and then finish out the accounting cycle. It's packaged as a SCORM file that can be imported into your LMS, and you can choose to have it assign a grade, complete/incomplete, or as a page.
A second version covering more advanced topics, including bad debt and the allowance method, interest accrual, and calculating straight-line depreciation, is currently in development.
Update 5/24/26: There are level options depending on the number of transactions you want students to complete. The "Rail Road" spaces are now property management with random transactions, including the use of AP/Trade Payable. There is an option between US GAAP/IFRS and whether to close to Retained Earnings or Income Summary. The scorecard at the end will now include which level and method was picked.
