Fiction Podcasts &
Audio Dramas

From short stories or the littlest listeners all the way to intense, serialized stories with big-time stars, there are fiction podcasts to reach nearly every interest.  This page will give some ideas for listening activities as well as some suggested podcasts that I have curated.

Please read this  carefully:  Many (if not all) of the activities and strategies you use for traditional text can be used with a podcast. You do not need to reinvent your teaching to implement podcasts.  Consider using a podcast to focus on a skill while removing the cognitive load that decoding text may present. I'm hopeful that you will find something new to try!

Fictional podcasts could be used as a whole-group (think read-aloud), in listening stations, or during something like menu-time.  I especially like doing the first fictional podcast as a whole-group listen.  This allows for you, as the instructor, to  interject with comments and highlights, in addition to the culture-building that occurs.
