Dear Japan Day Performers, Activity Leaders, and Community Partners,
On behalf of Sacramento State Japan Club and the Japanese Program, thank you for helping make Japan Day 2026 such a meaningful and successful event.
Despite the unexpected last-minute change from an outdoor festival to an indoor venue, your flexibility, generosity, and enthusiasm helped transform the day into a wonderful celebration of Japanese culture and community.
This year’s theme was Matsuri (Festival), and that spirit could be felt everywhere. Through your performances, demonstrations, exhibits, workshops, and cultural activities, you brought energy, joy, and learning to hundreds of visitors throughout the day. Whether through music, dance, martial arts, traditional arts, language, food culture, games, crafts, or community outreach, you helped create experiences that inspired curiosity, connection, and appreciation for Japanese culture.
Our student slogan this year was 繋ぐ、繋がる、繋げる (Tsunagu, Tsunagaru, Tsunageru) — to connect, to be connected, and to create new connections.
We witnessed this slogan come to life throughout the event. Families, students, educators, alumni, and community members of all ages came together to learn from one another and celebrate shared interests and friendships. Many visitors told us how much they enjoyed speaking with performers and activity leaders, trying new experiences, and feeling welcomed into the community.
Japan Day has always been possible because of the support of dedicated community partners like you. Your willingness to share your time, knowledge, talents, and traditions helps make this event much more than a cultural festival—it becomes a place where meaningful connections are formed across generations and backgrounds.
We are deeply grateful for your participation and support. We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we enjoyed having you with us.
As we begin thinking about next year’s 20th Japan Day celebration, we look forward to continuing these connections and welcoming many familiar and new faces back to campus.
Thank you again for helping make Japan Day 2026 such a memorable experience.
With sincere appreciation,
Kazue Masuyama
