[Presentation] ASA 2023 Annual Meeting
I will be attending the ASA 2023 Annual Meeting (August 17-21, 2023) in Philadelphia, PA. I will present two papers: "Institutional Factors and Cultural Attitudes in the Occupational Desegregation of Gay and Lesbian Workers" and "Domestic Labor Outsourcing Differences among Same-Sex and Different-Sex Couples." I will look forward to meeting with new people interested in the social stratification of sexual minority individuals.
[Award] Huber-Form Master's Thesis Award
I am honored to share that I received the Huber-Form Master’s Thesis Award for the 2022–2023 academic year. I’m very grateful to Drs. Sarah Damaske and Daniel DellaPosta for nominating me, and to the selection committee for their thoughtful review of my work. It’s a privilege to receive this recognition.
[Career] All But Dissertation (ABD) Status
On June 1 and 2, I completed my written section of comprehensive exams on four subfields: (1) Social Stratification, (2) Gender and Sexuality, (3) Social Networks, and (4) Social Demography. On June 21, I completed both my oral defense of comprehensive exams and dissertation proposal defense. Now, the only stop left is the dissertation itself. In other words, I can finally call myself an ABD in Sociology and Demography! I am thankful for all the guidance and help provided by my dissertation committee members: Drs. Sarah Damaske, Daniel DellaPosta, Jennifer Glick, and Samantha Tornello.
[Award] Penn State Sociology Paper Competition
It is my honor to announce that my thesis won the working paper category of the 14th Annual Sociology Paper Competition in my department! Great news to have right before I travel down to New Orleans. I will be presenting my work ("Can We Trust the Changes? Institutional Factors and Cultural Attitudes in the Occupational Desegregation of Gay and Lesbian Workers in the United States") at a brown bag lecture on April 21. I want to thank the competition committee members and the reviewers.

As New Orleans is one of my favorite cities, I am quite excited about this trip. Also, I will look forward to seeing many familiar and new faces.
