This week, I am beginning my first semester as a Ph.D. student in Sociology and Demography at The Pennsylvania State University. For the first semester, I will be taking courses remotely from Korea due to the Pandemic but will move to the United States by the beginning of next semester.

I got an email from the Director of Graduate Study at The Pennsylvania State University that I will be receiving the University Graduate Fellowship, which comes with a higher stipend amount and a service-free first year. I am honored to receive this fellowship and look forward to starting my new chapter at The Pennsylvania State University.

It is great to announce that my Ph.D. application results are all out now. Among the 8 sociology programs that I applied to, I got accepted to four programs: The Pennsylvania State University, the University of Southern California, the City University of New York, and Vanderbilt University. I will decide on which program to attend soon. I am very thankful to everyone who helped me throughout this application process, particularly all my professors at Lawrence University.
