“Someday I Might Leave” What began as a tribute to Andy Goldsworthy for a project for a seminar class, quickly took on a life of it's own, as I chose to build on my project into the summer. For my project/short, “Someday I might leaf,” I set out to explore physics, composition, and temporal beauty in the world around me. My aim was to connect with the temporariness of nature through spontaneous installation art. Each piece is meant to be a unique moment in time that can’t be replicated or reproduced. The same way matter can not be created or destroyed, when I’m done with my work, eventually, everything returns to the earth. I enjoyed doing this project because anytime I was outside and saw materials that inspired me, by their shape, texture, or color, I tested it out. Many ideas failed and nothing I created is still around, but a connection was created. Some days i’ll stop and collect rocks and leaves and feel inspired enough to create, and some days I just play 2k and listen to Big K.R.I.T. The point of the short is to embrace a seemingly meaningless moment. I imagine someday I’ll die and wish I spent more time playing with leaves.
