In this unit, I learned how data is stored, organized, and managed using databases. I also learned how people use queries to find specific information and how database systems help manage large amounts of data efficiently.
Database Management Systems (DBMS)
Records and Fields
Queries and searching data
Organizing and storing information
Databases and how they work
A DBMS helps manage, update, and retrieve data easily.
Databases are used to store large amounts of organized data.
Data is raw facts, while information is processed and meaningful.
Queries are used to search and filter information in a database.
Databases are used in schools, banks, social media, and businesses.
Record (DB): A record is a complete set of related fields in a table.
Query: A query is a request to find or retrieve specific data from a database.
DBMS (Database Management System): A DBMS is software that allows users to create, manage, and interact with databases.
Data: Data are raw, unprocessed facts, and figures.
Information: Information is data that has been processed and organized to be useful.
Knowledge: Knowledge is the understanding gained from information and experience.
Wisdom: Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge to make informed and effective decisions.
Example: Data → Wisdom
Data: Individual numbers or facts - like scores.
Information: Organized data showing results - average score.
Knowledge: Understanding what the results mean.
Wisdom: Using that understanding to make better decisions.
